Cadette Girl Scout Troop #679 of Montrose is conducting a service project in an effort to earn their Girl Scout Silver Award by holding a Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the 1600 block of Don Carlos Avenue, Montrose. There will be signs along the street. Their goal is to collect school uniforms for MEND, an organization that distributes food and clothing to the needy in San Fernando Valley. They will be collecting school uniform apparel such as white polo shirts and navy blue/khaki pants. Gently used or new uniforms would be appreciated. American Assn. of University Women’s Glendale Branch will feature soprano Jamie Cunanan at 9 a.m. at the Oakmont Country Club, 3100 Country Club Drive, Glendale. A graduate of the Los Angeles High School for the Arts, Jamie earned her Bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount and performed in many musical productions there. She was most recently in Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Iolanthe”. The past president of the association will install the new officers as well. Breakfast is $25. Junior Girl Scout Troop 92 will host a Pet Adoption Day with the Pasadena Humane Society for their Bronze Award Project from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Anderson’s Pet Shop’s parking lot, 2218 Honolulu Ave., Montrose. The Golden Oldies Soccer Club and the city of Glendale will have their annual soccer club recognition dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. at Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe Way, Glendale. ? AHEAD with Horses Inc. 28th Annual Children Demonstration and Fun Day will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 9311 Del Arroyo Drive, Sun Valley. The event will include a demonstration by children with disabilities, a magic shop, a performance by traditional Mexican horses and much more. Food provided by Togo’s of La Crescenta is included in admission price of $12 , $ 5 for children 4-12 and free for children 3 and under.
