‘Transformers’ for even bigger screen

Glendale-based DreamWorks Pictures SKG and Paramount Pictures have teamed up with IMAX Corporation to offer screenings of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” at a record 167 IMAX theaters, including one in Burbank.

AMC Burbank 16 will show the film in its IMAX theater starting on the day of the movie’s release, June 24.

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” in IMAX will feature select scenes shot with special IMAX cameras that have been seamlessly incorporated with computer graphics to give the film an “unprecedented look and feel” on IMAX theaters, according to a news release.

Sequences shot on traditional 35-millimeter film will be digitally remastered but will appear in the traditional “letterbox” shape, while scenes shot with IMAX cameras will expand vertically on the IMAX screen, according to a news release.

“The extraordinary level of detail and intensity captured by the IMAX camera creates many exciting possibilities for us with this film,” Michael Bay, the film’s director, said in a statement.
