Juan “Johnny” Gutierrez Barajas died Thursday at Chancellor Place in Pasadena. He was 86.

Born on March 1, 1923, in Douglas, Ariz., Barajas died at the retirement home after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease and a brief bout with cancer.

He is survived by his daughter, Lorraine B. Megowan of Glendale; brothers Frank Barajas of Ventura, Elias Barajas of San Diego, Ramiro Barajas and Ramon Barajas of Oxnard, Ignacio Barajas and Sergio Barajas of San Diego and Jesus Barajas of Morelia, Mexico; and sisters Mary Helen Barajas, and Teresa Gomez of Chula Vista. He is also survived by four godchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Incarnation Catholic Church, 1001 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale, CA 91020.

He will be laid to rest in Glendale Forest Lawn Cemetery after the religious services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
