THOSE SUMMER NIGHTS

Share

People came out in droves to fill City Hall’s outdoor atrium Friday evening for the city’s sixth annual Summer Night on the Plaza, the only fundraiser for the Committee for a Clean & Beautiful Glendale.

Last year, the fundraiser generated about $15,000 for the city commission, which supports the city’s graffiti prevention efforts as well as other beautification and community education efforts.

“We are hoping to raise more this year because we have some awesome silent auction items,” said Sandra Rodriguez, the committee’s liaison with the city.

Auction items included airfare, designer clothing, theme park, museum sporting events and theater tickets.

The committee recently completed its annual “I Love My Neighborhood” poster contest, which educates local students about litter and pollution prevention.

This year’s winner was third-grader Michelle Tahmasian of Balboa Elementary School.
