BRIEFLY IN PUBLIC SAFETY: Jackson’s funeral date changed

The funeral of pop star Michael Jackson was pushed back again, from Aug. 29 to Sept. 3, a family representative said Friday.

The Jackson family’s representative didn’t say why the funeral date was changed.

The private funeral service is now scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 in the Great Mausoleum’s Holly Terrace at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park, but as of Friday evening, Glendale police officials, who will shut down streets and manage traffic flow outside the cemetery, said they had not been notified of the change.

Only close friends and family will be at the service, the family representative said.
