Zarian to delve into proposal

Nat Reed, chairman of the 710 Freeway Coalition, and Bill Weisman, a member of the Glendale Transportation and Parking Commission, are scheduled to appear live on “The Larry Zarian Show” tonight to discuss the controversial underground tunnel extension proposal.

Weisman, a resident of north Glendale, is opposed to the project, as are a group of La Crescenta and La Cañada area residents who argue the tunnel connection to the Foothill (210) Freeway would send more semi-trucks through the Crescenta valley corridor.

Reed and other proponents of the extension argue it would reduce pollution and ease traffic congestion on regional highways — assertions the opposition say are unsubstantiated.
