Officials on Friday canceled a series of public outdoor events as the Station fire above La Canada Flintridge continued to rage and billow smoke.
As county health officials stepped up their air quality warnings, The Parks, Recreation and Community Service Department canceled all outdoor events planned for the Glendale Sports Complex and other parks indefinitely until air quality improved.
A campfire event planned for Deukmejian Wilderness Park Saturday night has also been canceled, a city spokeswoman said.
The movie in the park event planned for Saturday evening at Two Strike Park in La Crescenta was canceled and there were no plans to reschedule, according to an announcement from Crescenta Valley Town Council President Steve Pierce. The movie might be folded into an event in September, he added.
County health officials also advised schools that are in smoke-impacted areas “to suspend outside physical activities in these areas, including physical education and after-school sports, until conditions improve.”
