The Assistance League of Glendale is enrolling students for its fall SAT seminars. Classes are limited to 35 students so priority will be based on date of postmark. National Charity League Inc., Glendale Chapter sponsors a Giant Group Rummage Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Ave., Glendale. The events benefits Twelve Oaks Lodge, a nonprofit retirement home in La Crescenta and educational scholarships for local students. There will be appliances, music CDs and DVDs, jewelry, sporting goods, booking, clothing, tools, toys and furniture. Admission and parking are free. Sales are cash only. ?

Glendale Elks Lodge will have its annual Chili Cook-off and Salsa Contest at the lodge, 120 E. Colorado St., Glendale. The public is encouraged to compete. Set up is at 9 a.m. with food preparation at 10 a.m. Cooking is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 followed by judging. Entry fee is $20 and there will be a cash prize for the best chili. The Associates of Brand Library present the opening reception and awards ceremony for the 38th annual exhibition from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brand Library Art Galleries, 1601 W. Mountain St., Glendale. Brand 38 is a national juried exhibition and is titled “Works on Paper: Beginnings.” The juror is internationally recognized artist Ruth Weisberg. Singer-songwriter Marie Digby will perform live as part of a concert sponsored by Donate Life at 7:35 p.m. at the Americana at Brand. Digby’s new album “Breathing Underwater” debuted at No. 1 on Amazon’s download charts. Opening the concert at 7 p.m. is male vocal group All-4-One, best known for the international hit song, “I Swear” which was one of the longest-running No. 1 singles in Billboard history and for which the group received a 1994 Grammy Award.
