AUTHOR RECEIVES LITERARY AWARD FOR BEST FICTION

Sheila Murray of Glendale will receive an Irwin Literary Award for Best Fiction Campaign of 2009 on Oct. 22 at the 15th annual banquet hosted by Book Publicists of Southern California at Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel in Studio City.

Irwin is an acronym for Industry Recognition of Writers In the News and was created to honor Irwin Zucker, founder of Book Publicists of Southern California in 1976.

She is the recording secretary for the Glendale Symphony Orchestra Assn., president of the Chevy Chase Estates Garden Club, Board Member of the Glendale Rose Float Assn.

Author of two cookbooks, “Another Damn Cookbook” and “What’s Sauce for the Goose.”

Her latest literary work is a novel, “Hi! My Name is Tom.”

She worked in the banking profession and in the medical field. She retired from Union Bank after 26 years.

WOMAN RECEIVES PREMIER SERVICE AGENCY TITLE

Marta Valiente, Allstate agent, of the M. V. Insurance Inc. Agency in Glendale, has been recognized for the agency’s designation as a Premier Service Agency for 2009.

Bestowed upon less than one-third of the Allstate agents in California this year, this designation is being presented to Allstate Agent Marta Valiente for her commitment to putting the customer at the center of her agency’s work.

The Premier Service Agency Designation is awarded to agents who have consistently demonstrated excellence in delivering an accessible, knowledgeable, and personal customer experience, according to a news release.
