La Cañada Gladiators Jr. Gremlin

At Claremont High, La Cañada squared off against the Claremont Wolf Pack. The Gladiator lineup of Andrew Sharman, Emmet Hurley, Adam Crawford, Austin Heberger, Cayden Smith, Max Nelson, Dylan McGoldrick, Ronald Shin, Adam Griffen, Matthew Bannick, Ryan Gonzalez, John Lytle, Charlie Stewart, Corey Koehler, Benjamin Ahn, Jonathan Ahn, Brian Harley, Mitchell Frus, Devin Mathews and Thomas McConnell played well for the Gladiators. Heberger hit Crawford with a 15-yard pass and a quick run for a touchdown early in the game. Heberger then passed to McGoldrick before rushing for another touchdown.

La Cañada 22 Claremont Wolf Pack 6: The Gladiators improved to 2-1-1 with the victory. After giving up an early score, La Cañada bounced back to score the final 22 points of the contest.

Mario Martinez intercepted a goal line pass to stop the Wolf Pack. Thomas Stea, John Monroe, Max Burcher, Drew Sarceda, Danny Pardo, Augy Saucedo, Michael Doud, Jack Rappard, Theo Chamberlain, Brian Erickson, Jason Rowton, Angel Salazar, Brett Gangi and Brandon Sharman, Daivon Grayson, Robert Rothrock, Eli Fazzi, Anthony Saravia, Anthony Guerrero and Able Fernandez played well for La Cañada.

Pee Wee

La Cañada 56, Claremont Wolf Pack 25: The Gladiators improved to 4-0 on the season. Ross Niederhaus, Sean Bloks, Kyle Tavizon, Skyler Payne, Sam Brown, Ernesto Juaregui and Kyle Cheung performed well for the Gladiators.

Cheung scored to give La Cañada a 7-0 lead before Juaregui scored on a 32-yard run to make it 13-6.

Jr. Midgets

La Cañada 24, Claremont Wolf Pack 20: La Cañada won its second game in a row. Joshua Yoon and Anthony Parada played well on defense for La Cañada. Yoon tipped a pass that was intercepted by Parada, who scored to give the Gladiators a 6-0 advantage.

Quarterback Will Lombardo tossed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Parada to give the Gladiators a 12-0 lead. The Gladiators closed out the first half with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Lombardo to Yoon to make it 18-6.

Midgets

El Serreno 12, La Cañada 0: La Cañada quarterback Ty Gangi completed several passes to Marceles Clash and running back Jake Johnson had a few good runs for La Cañada.

The unit forced five turnovers. Zachery Washington recovered two fumbles and Thomas Rhee recovered three fumbles.

BASEBALL

The Crescenta Valley Crush 10-and-under travel team recently finished second at the USSSA 2009 Fall Classic tournament in Huntington Beach.

The members of the team are Jake Schaeffer, Ty Langford, Scott Vinceri, Logan Neil, Justin Chang, Mike Sorokin, Nick Tralongo, Lorenzo Respicio, Harrison Woo, Troy Leef, Michael Chung, Justin Parrott, Jett Costibolo, Kurt McNevin and Matt Brunner.

The Crush, who are coached by Mike Vinceri, Greg Brunner, Mark Langford, Skip McNevin and John Morre, will next compete at the Harvest Classic in Mira Loma in November.
