Glendale Panthers set to hold tryouts

The Glendale YMCA Panthers will conduct tryouts for the upcoming season.

The tryouts for boys and girls will be held Sunday at the Glendale YMCA, 140 N. Louise St., Glendale.

The tryouts are geared for boys ages 7-13 and girls ages 8-14.

Age levels are determined by one’s age on Sept. 1, 2009.

Parents must attend and sign-up their children at the session.

Tryouts for boys 7-8 and all girls is from noon to 12:45 p.m.; boys 9-10 from 1 to 1:45 p.m.; boys 11-12 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and boys 13 from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Practices will be held in November and December.

Christmas tree sale set to be held

The 18th annual St. Francis High School Booster Club Christmas Tree Sale will take place.

Orders and payments must be made by 2 p.m. Nov. 30.

Checks should be made payable to St. Francis High School Booster Club, 200 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge, CA, 91011.

Pick-up hours are 7 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 5.

Looking for athletes beyond high school

In order to provide the most comprehensive coverage possible, the News-Press sports department is constantly trying to keep tabs on area athletes beyond high school.
