Hillside residents assess mud damage

Share

LA CAÑADA — At least six homes in La Cañada Flintridge were evacuated overnight as storm cells sent mudflows through an Ocean View Boulevard neighborhood.

Residents throughout the foothill region awoke today to varying degrees of mud damage, but no injuries were reported. Several cars, mostly parked on street curbs, were inundated with mud, witnesses said.

Crews have been working to clear streets from mud and other debris.

County and city officials were busy this morning assessing the damage from the weather system that produced heavy bursts of rain in the foothills, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials have been working for weeks to shore up the hillsides and residential neighborhoods against debris- and mudflows ahead of what is expected to be a wet winter.
