GLENDALE — The following are updates on area athletes at the collegiate level.

Markus Monroe (Glendale Community College, 2009) Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball junior: Coming off the bench, Monroe scored 16 points, including a key bucket within the final 20 seconds of regulation, to help the Warriors notch an 82-75 road win over defending National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics national champion Rocky Mountain College on Feb. 20.

Monroe, who was leading the Warriors in scoring at 16.8 points per game going into Saturday’s game at Westminster College, made six of 11 shots from the field and also contributed four rebounds and three assists.

Christian Bergman (St. Francis High, 2006) UC Irvine baseball senior: Through no fault of Bergman’s, the No. 4 nationally-ranked Anteaters suffered a nonconference 7-4 upset loss on the road to North Carolina State on Friday.

Making his second start, Bergman (0-0 with a 6.10 earned-run average) held the Wolfpack to two runs on six hits over six innings while striking out five and walking two and he left the game with a 4-2 lead.

North Carolina State would tie the score in the bottom of the seventh and scored five runs in the 10th inning to win the game.

UC Irvine is 3-1 on the season.

Danny Casey (Glendale Community College, 2009) Concordia University Irvine, baseball junior: The former Vaquero finished two for four at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base on Friday in the Eagles’ 5-2 Golden State Athletic Conference loss to visiting California Baptist.

On the season, Casey has started all 12 games at third base for the Eagles (7-5, 0-3 in conference) and amassed a .378 batting average — second-highest on the team — with team highs of two home runs, 13 runs batted in and 16 runs scored.
