Disney’s iPad apps proving a hit

Walt Disney Co.’s new iPad apps have attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers for its ABC television shows after 12 days of activity, the company announced this week.

The Burbank-based media giant’s ABC Player app was downloaded more than 212,000 times over that period, the company said Wednesday.

App users viewed 680,000 ABC show episodes through their mobile devices, with the most views coming from a “Modern Family” episode, the company said.

“Our new ABC Player iPad app continues our legacy of innovation in the digital space,” Anne Sweeney, co-chairwoman of Disney Media Networks and president of the company’s Disney/ABC Television Group, said in a statement. “Delivering an incredible viewing experience, the app makes it easier than ever for fans to keep up with their favorite ABC shows.”
