CV Can Games announced

Crescenta Valley High will host the second annual CV CAN Games from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1 at Crescenta Valley High’s Susan Osbourne Field located at 2900 Community Ave., La Crescenta.

The event will feature up to 150 Special Olympics athletes from the Tri-Valley Region of the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Burbank and Glendale areas competing in various Olympic-style events, including walks, runs, relays and wheelchair races, as well as field events to include softball toss, long jump and shot put.

New additions to this year’s games are a bocce tournament and an “Olympic Village” area filled with fun and games for the athletes. There will be awards presentations throughout the day.

Those interested in serving as volunteers for the event to help organize and run the competition and serve food and water can contact volunteer coordinator Tiffany Cervenka at tcervenka@gusd.net.
