Hoover’s Senior Prom begins 7 p.m. June 5 at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Tickets must be purchased in advance through Hoover Associated Student Body.

The annual Baccalaureate is 4:30 p.m. June 13 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1020 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale. Scholarship and achievement awards will be presented at 7 p.m. June 9 in the auditorium. For a complete list of events, visit www.hooverhs.org, and click on events.

Toll Middle School

The PTSA Volunteer Appreciation Tea is 3 p.m. Thursday in the Toll Faculty Cafeteria. Also that day, Toll’s award-winning choir, orchestra and drum line will perform in the Razzmatazz Concert at 6 p.m. in the Toll Auditorium.

Best wishes to eighth-grader Jerry Cortez, who will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., on June 3.

Balboa Elementary

Thank you to parents and teachers who worked the successful Spring Fling May 14; with special thanks to Patty Morgan, event chairwoman. The Balboa community welcomes new principal, Lena Richter.

The Tunesmith concert begins 7 p.m. Thursday in the school auditorium. The basketball tournament is 3 to 5 p.m. June 3, on the playground. If you’d like to volunteer at Balboa, contact the school at (818) 241-1801.

Franklin Elementary

Franklin PTA installed new officers at the last PTA meeting, and songs were sung by the Spanish and Italian Immersion class choirs.

Congratulations to the 2010-2011 PTA Board; Jennifer Freemon, Bill LaVigna, Catalina Lee, Ibet Acevedo, Heather Phillips, Maria Lulu Marshall, Ashlynn Billingsley Wright, Liliana Chavarria, Sheri Robinson, Ana Betancourt, Lilia Grigoryan, Judy Reilly Brousseau and Gillian Bonacci.

Jefferson Elementary

This week, is Teacher Appreciation week. Be sure your student acknowledges his/her teacher. Teachers will be served breakfast at 8 a.m. Wednesday in classrooms. At 8:30 a.m. Thursday there will be a flag ceremony in the auditorium for primary grades and at 10:30 a.m. for upper grades.

Kindergartners will also sing for teachers.

The Teacher Appreciation Luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the auditorium.

Mark Keppel Elementary

Parents can view students’ work at Keppel’s Open House, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Tacos can be purchased from 5:30 to 8 p.m that day. Keppel’s Orchestra and Choral concert is 6:30 p.m. June 1, in the Hoover Auditorium. At 5 p.m. June 11 is “Rocking for the Arts,” where students, taught by Burbank Music Academy, perform on the grassy area behind Keppel. All Proceeds benefit Keppel’s arts program.
