The Glendale News-Press visited the Lego robotics class of Ben McShane at Lincoln Elementary School. The students were rehearsing for a robotics competition that was held at Roosevelt Middle School over the weekend. We asked: “What has been the most challenging part about getting ready for the competition?”

“Building it. Sometimes you put it together and you think it’s right, but then you look at the directions and it’d be wrong.”

“The instructions are very hard because they are not really written out. It’s kind of like a picture of it. Sometimes you get the wrong piece. Then you have to start it all over again.”

MADELINE KIM, 10

La Crescenta

“I would say building. In the pictures, it’s sort of hard to see. Sometimes it shows you what part to use, but sometimes it doesn’t so you kind of get confused. If you mess up, you get confused.”

EAMON PATAMASING, 11

La Crescenta

“I would say getting the robot to do what you want. It does the turns at the wrong time; it goes too far.”

BENJAMIN COOKE, 10

La Crescenta

“The programming, the measuring. Even just designing is just pretty hard.”

NATHAN LEE, 10
