GLENDALE — A Glendale man who was found dead Sunday after a domestic dispute with his roommate died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The 68-year-old man, whose name hasn’t been released pending family notification, was discovered dead about 5 p.m. Sunday inside a home on the 900 block of North Kenilworth Avenue, said Ed Winter, assistant chief at the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

While the man appeared to have shot himself, Glendale police detectives continue to investigate Sunday’s shooting, Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

“Everything is pointing to a domestic dispute,” Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

The man got into an altercation about 12:43 p.m. with his roommate, who was preparing to move out of their Kenilworth home, Lorenz said.

At some point during the dispute, a gunshot rang out, he said.

The man’s roommate, whose name also hasn’t been released, ran out of the home to a residence on the 600 block of Arden Avenue, urging residents to call police because he had been shot, Lorenz said.

Police requested additional support from the negotiation and Special Weapons and Tactics teams.

The roommate sustained a gunshot wound in the arm and was taken to a local hospital, Lorenz said.

He underwent surgery Monday and is expected to survive.
