Public benefit contracts

The Glendale City Council on Tuesday approved using $2.1 million to help continue Glendale Water & Power public benefits programs that provide free in-home water and energy usage surveys for customers.

The City Council extended two city contracts with Kema Services Inc. to provide two more years of customized reports and installations of $50 worth of free energy and water saving devices in customers’ homes free of charge.

WHAT IT MEANS

Utility officials say the programs help residents conserve and cut down their energy and water costs.

Cell Tower

The City Council authorized an agreement with New Cingular Wireless PCS to allow the company to lease city land adjacent to the Glendale Sports Complex to continue hosting a cell tower there.

WHAT IT MEANS

The lease will generate at least $36,000 annually for the city.
