Briefly: Zarian to discuss bone marrow registry

Share

Frieda Jordan, president of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, is scheduled to appear Thursday on “The Larry Zarian Show” to discuss the challenges of securing more donors.

The worldwide registry of Armenian bone marrow donors is small, at about 15,000 for a population of about 10 million, Jordan has said.

Potential donors typically provide six mouth swabs so that doctors can compile a “DNA fingerprint” to match with patients.

Jordan will likely discuss the registry’s efforts to attract new donors and the challenges of finding bone marrow matches for Armenian patients.

The show airs at 7 p.m. on Charter Cable channel 380. The viewer call-in number is (818) 547-3668.
