Former Burbank Supt. dies

Former Burbank Unified Supt. Kevin Jolly has died, according to an announcement from a school district in Northern California where had started superintendent earlier this month.

No cause of death was given, and calls to Mendocino County school officials were not immediately returned. Jolly, who grew up in nearby Humboldt County, was named superintendent of the Round Valley Unified School District July 1.

A statement from Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools Paul A. Tichinin said Jolly died last Friday.

Local police and sheriff’s officials also could not be immediately reached.

In a statement released by Burbank Unified, Jolly’s replacement, Stan Carrizosa said, “we are deeply saddened by this tragic event and our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, children and family.”
