Toll Middle School

Parents of students at Toll Middle School should be on the lookout for back to school information packets coming soon.

Toll orientation is scheduled for Aug. 24 and Aug. 25. Physical education uniforms, physical education locks and binder reminders will be available for purchase on those days. Also school photos for student identification cards will be taken, so please look your best. PTA membership sign-ups will be in full swing that day also.

The first day of school is Aug. 30. Students must be in their seats by 8:05 a.m. On Aug. 31 there will be rules assemblies for all grades throughout the day.

If you have questions about the Toll Middle School PTSA, or would like to volunteer, e-mail Raquel Grecius at markkeppelmom@yahoo.com.

Balboa Elementary

The Balboa PTA is busy planning events for the school year. The first event will be a Welcome Back Coffee at 8:05 a.m., right after the first day of school starts, on Aug. 30, in the auditorium. Parents and family members will be able to sign up to volunteer for PTA events. Parents will also get the opportunity to meet the new principal, Lena Richter.

If you’d like to volunteer at Balboa, contact the school at (818) 241-1801.

Franklin Elementary

Franklin PTA is excited to continue the language immersion program and it is looking for ways to add international flair to its PTA activities. The school has a tremendous group of parent volunteers and, as always, the PTA is very thankful for their hard work. In particular, the school would like to thank Deloitte for bringing their Impact Day to the Franklin campus. Thanks to their efforts, the school has new murals, new trees and the campus looks fantastic.

Over the summer many parent volunteers continue to water the new trees, so the campus will be rich in shade one day. They’re also keeping the Sprouts Learning Garden going so it’s ready for fall.

We want to reach out to all parents, especially our incoming kindergarten parents and encourage their involvement. Contact PTA President Jennifer Freemon at jenniferfreemon@gmail.com or the front office at (818) 243-1809 to volunteer.

If you have any questions related to the school, contact Franklin Elementary at (818) 243-1809.

Jefferson Elementary

The next PTA Executive Board meeting will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 19 in the school auditorium to plan for the Teacher and Staff Welcome Breakfast and the first day of school.

All teachers and staff are cordially invited to the annual welcome breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 27. That same day the school will also have uniforms for sale in the auditorium from noon to 3 p.m. On Aug. 30, the first day of school, the PTA will set up a coffee table for parents in the auditorium at 8:30 a.m. for a principal chat and a warm PTA welcome.

If you’d like to volunteer at Jefferson, call the school office at (818) 243-4279.

Mark Keppel Elementary

This has still been a very busy summer for Mark Keppel Volunteers. The Mark Keppel Drill Team has been preparing to go to camp from Aug. 6 to Aug. 8. Many thanks to Cris Neel who has been working overtime with the girls twice a week, in addition to purchasing costumes and organizing fundraisers.

Thanks also to student advisers for volunteering during summer break to work with the Keppel Drill Team. Please support the drill team by stopping by the Toll Malt Shop and purchasing a refreshing treat or nachos. The Malt Shop is open every day after summer school.

If you’d like to volunteer at Keppel, contact the school office at (818) 244-2113.
