Superintendent speaks at State of the Schools Breakfast

The sixth annual Glendale Educational Foundation State of the Schools Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. Oct. 7 at Edison Pacific Center, 440 W. Lomita Ave., Glendale.

This has become the hot ticket in recent years and you will not want to miss it. This year’s guest speaker is Dick Sheehan, the new superintendent of the Glendale Unified School District, in his first community event. Breakfast will be prepared by the Glendale High School Bistro and student entertainment will be on hand as well. Tickets are $20 and are available by calling (818) 247-0466.

DUNSMORE ELEMENTARY

Summer school session at Dunsmore has finished and the school office will be open for business Aug. 16.

PTA board members will be meeting soon to get ready for the upcoming school year. PTA committee and chairmen will be contacted as well in preparation for fall events and activities. If you have a question, suggestion, or comment for the PTA, please contact Suzette Melko at slagumbay@hotmail.com.

New Student Orientation is at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 27 in the auditorium. Later in the day beginning at 5:30 p.m., classroom assignments are posted and popsicles are served in front of the school.

VALLEY VIEW ELEMENTARY

The school office will be open for new student enrollment from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 19.

All incoming kindergarten families are invited to the Kindergarten Tea at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 in the auditorium. This is a special event for students to meet their teacher, see the classroom and learn about Valley View. The PTA, Education Foundation, and Korean Parents Assn. will be on hand to welcome and encourage families to join the clubs and sign up for volunteer opportunities.

CRESCENTA VALLEY HIGH

Incoming President Liz Arnold has chosen “PTSA: Your Voice” as her theme for the coming year. PTSA is the voice for all parents, teachers and students when advocating for educational issues in our community, our state and our nation.

This coming school year, the PTSA will focus on increasing student involvement in all aspects of the PTSA from advocacy to school programs. Become a member and let PTSA be your voice.
