Finally: No line at the DMV

Share

Residents hoping to take care of business Friday at the Department of Motor Vehicles on Glenoaks Boulevard Friday had a different kind of disappointment when they arrived.

There may not have the usual long line snaking out onto the sidewalk, but that’s because the office was closed. The DMV at 1335 W. Glenoaks Blvd. in Glendale will remain closed for more than two months as crews work to install a number of upgrades at the aging facility.

The branch’s 51 employees have been reassigned to nearby DMV offices to help with increased customer traffic. The Glendale branch, which hasn’t undergone a major renovation since 1961, is scheduled to reopen Nov. 1 after crews finish the nearly $900,000 project.

The DMV branch serves an average of 1,200 customers every day.
