WIRELESS CELLULAR TOWER

The City Council on Tuesday approved the installation of a new Verizon Wireless cell tower on a site near the Glendale Sports Complex, where several other companies already have facilities.

WHAT IT MEANS

Under the 10-year lease, Verizon will pay the city $3,000 per month with a 4% rate increase annually.

JAIL PHONE SERVICE

The City Council authorized negotiations with Legacy Inmate Communications to secure a contract to provide inmate telephone and maintenance services at the city jail.

Jails are required by law to provide reasonable telephone access to inmates.

WHAT IT MEANS

The agreement will generate revenue for the city, which will receive 58% commission for all collect phone calls made by inmates.
