Photo of one suspect released

GLENDALE — Detectives released photographs Friday of one of two kidnappers who forced a Glendale woman this week to withdraw her bank savings before driving her home and burglarizing it, officials said.

The photographs, which were obtained from an ATM camera at the Bank of America on the 300 block of North Brand Boulevard, show a curly-haired woman wearing dark sunglasses.

Glendale police detectives are looking for her and a second woman in connection with the kidnapping of a 45-year-old Glendale resident, officials said.

The Glendale woman, whom police have not identified, was walking home about noon Wednesday at Oak Street and Pacific Avenue when they approached her.

The suspects reportedly asked the woman for directions in exchange for something valuable in an effort to get her attention, Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

But then they forced her into their car and told her if she didn’t comply with their demands, “something bad was going to happen,” Det. Keith Soboleski said.

They drove to the bank and forced her to withdraw cash from an ATM, officials said, but after seeing her account balance, the women forced her to enter the bank and withdraw $3,800 from a teller.

The bank teller told police that the woman was acting nervous but didn’t know why.

The suspects then forced the woman in their car again, and drove to her home, where they stole jewelry and a computer laptop, police said.

The first suspect, who was photographed by the ATM camera, was in her late 20s, about 5 foot, 5 inches tall with curly, shoulder-length hair.

The second suspect was described as in her early 30s, 5 foot, 4 inches tall and heavyset. Both women were described as being Latina.

The women were driving what the victim described as a newer four-door, gray Toyota sedan.
