PTA News: Parents can meet school staff at introduction event

The Hoover PTSA welcomes all students, staff and parents back to school. The first Hoover PTSA meeting of the year is Sept. 13 in room 12101. The program; “Who’s Who at Hoover,” offers parents the opportunity to meet administrators, counselors and staff, as well as other parents. A short business meeting begins at 7 p.m. and the program follows at 7:30. New and returning Hoover parents are encouraged to attend.

Thank you to staff, ASB students and parent volunteers, who worked so hard on Hoover’s program distribution. Your efforts are most appreciated!

The Harlem Globetrotters will play at Hoover High School at 7 p.m. Sept. 17. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at door. VIP Tickets are $45 in advance only. For tickets, call Hoover High School at (818) 242-6801 or https://www.hooverhs.org.

Hoover’s Back to School Night is Sept. 21 where parents can meet teachers and learn what to expect in the coming year. Parents are also encouraged to join the PTSA that evening. The California PTSA uses its large member base to advocate with law makers for the many needs our students have in this state.

Toll Middle School

Toll’s Back to School Night is Sept. 16. Meeting with teachers begins at 6:45 p.m. in their classrooms. Meet your child’s teachers and learn how you can help your son/daughter be even more successful at Toll. Toll’s Gift Wrap Fundraiser begins Friday. If you’re brave enough, check your student’s backpack for the catalog of gifts.

Balboa Elementary

Balboa PTA President Patricia Morgan and her board are busy planning events. The first is Hot September Night, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 24, in the playground. The event has a 1950s theme and all are encouraged to dress accordingly. There will be music and lots of food.

The PTA membership drive started with the beginning of school, and we’re aiming for 100% participation for the second year in a row. Thanks to Nono Petrossian for chairing the drive.

Franklin Elementary

Franklin’s PTA is also gearing up for the fall membership drive. Envelopes went home with students the first week of school. To learn more about the fantastic Franklin programs or to volunteer, contact the front office at (818) 243-1809.

Jefferson Elementary

Jefferson’s PTA has a full roster of activities planned for the year, starting with Movie Night from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 on the field. Fall Fundraising goes in to full swing Oct. 4. Please check your child’s backpack for fundraising materials. International Walk-To-School Day is Oct. 6. This year marks the first time Jefferson is participating. We encourage all students to walk to school.

Jefferson is having an assembly called, “Eastern Magic,” from 8:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 in the auditorium. There will be three showings for the different grades. Get ready for Fall Festival. It will begin at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 29 on the Jefferson field with food and games and ends at 7:30 p.m. Come in costume and join the fun!

Mark Keppel Elementary

The Mark Keppel PTA welcomes students and teachers back to school. The kick off for the Gift Wrap Fundraiser is Friday. Please support the PTA by purchasing many items Don’t miss the Welcome Back Picnic for all Keppel families at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24 on the grass of the second level. We hope to see you there!

If you’re interested in joining the Mark Keppel PTA, it only costs $5. Membership envelopes are in the front office. To get involved in the PTA at Keppel or to volunteer, contact the school office at (818) 244-2113.
