Lucille Katherine Phillis, 89, of Burbank, formerly of Vinton, IA, died September 9, 2010 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank following a brief illness.
Services: 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 18th at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., Vinton, IA with Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday.
Lucille was born August 6, 1921 to Carl and Mary (Rinderknecht) Wieditz near Newhall, IA and graduated from High School in Vinton, IA. On August 23, 1942 she married Carlos Phillis at Kahoka, MO. After World War II, they settled in Hollywood, then in Burbank. Lucille was employed as an office manager at several printing firms in Burbank for many years. She was active in the Sigma Tau Psi Sorority for years, and volunteered in health care in later years. This year the couple decided to move back to Iowa. Lucille was suddenly hospitalized while Carlos made the move and now resides in Vinton, IA.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Gary and wife, Patricia Bornmann, Boulder, CO; one brother and three sisters-in-law, all of Vinton, IA. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
