Glendale City Council Meeting Preview

Smart-grid contract: The City Council on Tuesday will consider a $201,000 contract with Utility Integration Solutions, a consulting firm specializing in utility technologies, to provide support for the city’s smart-grid project.

The firm will help the city in the development of a technology plan for the system of smart electric and water meters and other facets of the updated grid.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The City Council will likely approve the contract.

New sister city

The City Council will consider adding Gimpo City, Korea, to the city’s sister city program. Currently, Glendale has six sister cities in Japan, Mexico, Armenia and Korea.

Sister-city committee members recommend the addition of Gimpo, which has a population of about 220,000 people and is trying to become an entertainment capital in Korea.

Mayor Ara Najarian visited Gimpo and met with the city officials during a recent trip to Korea.
