Share

Hans was born in Baden, Switzerland on October 23, 1936 and passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 27, 2010. He moved to the United States in August of 1959 where he first worked as a butcher, a trade he had learned in Switzerland. This helped him run a successful wholesale meat route. From 1975 to 1991 he and his wife Lilo operated the old Glenoaks Car Wash in Burbank.

Upon his retirement he devoted a lot of time to his hobby of target shooting and to the Swiss community by being active in several clubs and keeping a tight rein as treasurer of two clubs.

On Election Day you could find him working at the local polling place where he was able to see many old acquaintances, all the way making sure everything was done according to the rules.

He also liked to travel and when not visiting relatives in Switzerland together with his wife liked to go on river cruises, the last one taking him to Egypt even though his illness, cardiac amyloidosis, had already started to slow him down considerably.

Hans is survived by his wife of 50 years and by his son Andy H. Holzer, his son and daughter- in- law Thomas W. and Betty Holzer, two grandchildren, Ashlee and Kevin and numerous relatives in Switzerland.

Hans will be missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

A memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park , Hollywood Hills on Monday, Oct. 4th at 12:30
