Barbara Ann Melone

Barbara Ann Melone. February 25, 1932 – October 10, 2010

Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Barbara moved with her parents and sister to Glendale, CA in 1938. She attended Incarnation School and Hoover High School. She started a long career in nursing as a graduate of St. Vincent’s College of Nursing. She later received a Masters Degree in Nursing from UCLA. She spent most of her career as a senior nurse at Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale. Patients, visitors, doctors and nurses would find her at her post on the 6th floor. She loved to travel and especially loved Yosemite and Yellowstone, as well as many locations around the world. She was an accomplished musician and particularly loved her viola. She was a regular member of community orchestras from high school through most of her later career. She is survived by her sisters Carol and Deborah and brothers John and Martin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010, 7:00pm until 8:30pm with a Rosary at 7:30pm at Callanan & Woods Scovern Mortuary, 511 S. Central Avenue, Glendale, CA 91204.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 2010, 11:30am, at Incarnation Church, 1001 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale, CA. Interment will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, CA.
