College and Career Fair offers choices

High school students can get a jump start at the College and Career Fair from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Glendale Civic Auditorium. Admission and parking are free.

Thank you Hoover football concession stand volunteers, who support Hoover by volunteering. Please contact Hoover through the website to volunteer.

The next PTSA meeting will be 7 p.m. Nov. 8 with business at 7 p.m. and a program at 7:30.

Hoover’s homecoming football game — fondly known as BGD (Beat Glendale Day) — is 7 p.m.Nov. 12 at Glendale High School. Please check out Hoover’s new website at https://hooverhs.schoolwires.net.

Toll Middle School

Reflections entries are due Oct. 22. Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 25 to 29,; reminding students of the dangers of drugs. Toll will begin an essay/poem and door-decorating contest Oct. 25 with judging on Oct. 30. There will be an invitational BMX Assembly during period five and six on Oct. 26. On Oct. 29, a K-9 Unit will visit during lunchtime. Nov. 11 there is no school due to Veterans Day.

Balboa Elementary

The PTA will host the annual Pumpkin Patch from 2:45 to 5:30 p.m. Friday in the kindergarten yard.

Thanks also to Noelle Millien Kovach who coordinated “International Walk to School Day” on Oct. 6. Mayor Ara Najarian, Glendale Unified school bard President Greg Krikorian, Assistant Supt. John Garcia and David Samuelson, assistant superintendent, human services, walked with our children.

The Reflections Gala will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 5 in the auditorium. Entries are being accepted.

Franklin Elementary

Franklin is very excited to be a recipient, along with Edison and Keppel, of a federal magnet school grant that allows them to continue to develop and improve their immersion programs.

Franklin PTA has reached 100% membership for the first time in school history! Thank you Ibet Acevedo for your remarkable work.

Lulu Marshall is heading the Reflections program where they’re hoping for record participation.

Jefferson Elementary

Thank you to the 550 people who attended Jefferson’s successful movie night. A PTA Executive Board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium. Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 25 to 30, reminding kids of the dangers of drugs. Jefferson’s Fall Festival is from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 on the field. There will be food, games, crafts and music. Costumes are encouraged.

Mark Keppel Elementary

Congratulations to Mark Keppel — one of three schools in the district to be awarded a $2.4-million grant for the Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum. The PTA Reflections Arts Contest has begun. Keppel’s sixth annual Harvest Festival is 3 to 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The Father/Son Halloween Dinner is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the cafeteria. The Mark Keppel Elite Drill Team will perform at the Kenneth Village Festival Oct. 30.
