Ken passed away suddenly at his Glendale home on Oct. 27, 2010.

Ken was born July 1, 1939 to Carl & Irene Coleman in Red Bluff, CA. He graduated from Stanford University. He worked as a salesman, then became the Marketing Director for a national company. He retired and bought BFIC in Burbank. He eventually retired in 2005.

Ken played the trumpet for Red Bluff High School and was on the Stanford ski team. He met Esther Petersen at an aunt’s tree trimming party. They were married in 1964. Five years later they adopted 3 children within one month which were the joy of his life. When the children were teenagers, he and Esther had 12 teens who stayed with them from periods of 2 weeks to 4 years, including Thuan Le who calls them Mom & Dad. Ken was active with family and with Grandview Presbyterian Church.

At Grandview, Ken became an Elder and Chairman of Building & Grounds, later Business & Finance and recently, the Pastor Nominating Committee.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Esther, of 46 years and by his daughter Laury Kelly of Leominster, Mass., and sons Gary Coleman of Glendale and Michael Coleman of Burbank. Ken adored his grandchildren Shannon and Lauryn Kelly in Mass., Megan Kelly in Fla. and Geoffrey Coleman in S. Carolina.

He will be missed for his intelligence, humor and love.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 30 at 11:30 am at Grandview Presbyterian Church, 1130 Ruberta Ave., Glendale, CA 91201.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grandview Presbyterian Church.
