Student honored for academic achievements

Sarah Zohrehvand, a fourth grade student at Dunsmore Elementary School in La Crescenta, was honored last month for outstanding academic achievements by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.

Zohrehvand, 9, was invited to the awards ceremony after earning high scores on an above-grade-level exam administered to second- through eighth-grade Talent Search participants.

Since 1979, the Center for Talented Youth has conducted an extensive academic talent search. It offers educational programming for students with “exceptional academic ability.” During the last school year, 57,000 students participated in the Talent Search.
