Glendale City Council Meeting Preview
Rockhaven water well
The City Council on Tuesday will consider a $549,000 contract with Zim Industries Inc. for the construction of an underground water well at the site of the Rockhaven Sanitarium, which the city bought for $8.25 million in 2008.
The project would serve as an exploratory well to help Glendale Water & Power officials determine whether a permanent well should be drilled.
Glendale Water & Power officials say the well could enable the city to extract the full amount of underground water allowed under a state agreement, and ease up its costly reliance on imported water.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The City Council is expected to approve the contract since they approved opening bidding without debate.
Lights at Verdugo Park
The City Council will consider an approximately $100,000 contract with Electro Construction Corporation for the installation of a new lighting system at Verdugo Park.
The current lighting system went out during the October rains and could do so again this winter. City officials say the lighting is a high priority to help prevent hazardous conditions at the park, which is one of the city’s most used facilities and has parts that are open until 10 p.m.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The council will likely approve the request given the potential for hazardous conditions.
