BURBANK, CA — Roland Wray “Ron” Johnson, 78, of Burbank, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010. He was born May 2, 1932 in Milltown, S.D., son of Ted and Nyki (Reiswig) Johnson.

Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his stepfather, Don Guthrie; his first wife, Christine M. Johnson; and a son, Patrick L. Johnson.

Ron is survived by a son, Michael W. Johnson; a daughter, Karen K. Gustafson; grandsons Travis and Jason Ellis; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his second wife, Florence Johnson; a stepdaughter, Lisa Boyd; and a stepson, Denny Freidrich.

Ron was a member of The Village Church of Burbank, and hosted a men’s Bible study in his home. He was a veteran plumber and member of the Plumbers Union, as well as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He joined the Air Force at the age of 17, and served his country for eight years. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, through Burbank’s VFW Post 3810, the U.S.S. Gudgeon (“The Ship”). Ron will be sadly missed by all his friends and family.

Ron’s memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at The Village Church, 3216 W. Victory Blvd., Burbank. Following the service, friends are invited to celebrate Ron’s life at the VFW “Ship,” located at 1006 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank.
