A joint PTSA and Cluster meeting at Glendale High recently included guests from Wilson and Roosevelt middle schools. Guests from area elementary schools were also invited for an evening of food, entertainment and information about the many quality programs offered at Glendale High School.

Principal Deb Rinder urged attendees to reach out to Glendale High, adding that once students find something they can enjoy and connect with at the school, their overall learning experiences are reinforced. Students and parents from the greater community can learn more about the school, including enrollment details, by contacting Glendale High directly.

John Muir Elementary

Inspired by Dunsmore Elementary, Fit Friday has come to Muir, said Principal Linda Junge. Muir is opening the track to all parents, students, staff and Muir stakeholders from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Dec. 17 when they may enjoy starting the day by running and walking together.

R.D. White

Several fundraising opportunities are scheduled with a Domino’s Restaurant Night taking center stage Thursday, and another on Dec. 22 at Panda Express, 249 N. Glendale Avenue.

But the season is not just about raising funds, which is why an R.D. White Adopt-A-Block Clean-Up Day is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday.

“Take pride in our neighborhood and community and meet for our monthly clean-up,” PTA President Laurel Whitcomb Perlman said. Winter Holiday gives everyone a break from Dec. 23 through Jan. 7.

Verdugo Woodlands

Janet Lazier, PTA president, reports that the upcoming weeks will be filled with holiday events.

Winter Choral concerts are scheduled for Tuesday, and artist Katsushika Hokusai will be introduced to all students during the Meet the Masters Art Appreciation Assemblies on Wednesday.

As part of the PTA Cultural Arts Program, “A Christmas Carol” is being presented by Will & Co. at the Dads’ Club on Thursday.

The Verdugo Woodlands’ Orchestra presents the Winter Holiday Concerts at the Dads’ Club at 9:30 and 10:40 a.m. Friday. And finally, on Dec. 22, students will enjoy holiday parties in their classrooms.
