Marion C. Marvin

October 8, 1917 – January 24, 2010

Born in Buffalo, New York, Marion C. Zollitsch lost her mother to the influenza epidemic of 1919. Her father took 2 year old Marion and her 2 older brothers back to the family home where they were cared for by12 aunts and uncles until her father remarried when Marion was 9 years old.

In 1937 Marion married the love of her life, Kenneth, and were together for 60 years.

Tired of the cold winters of New York, in 1959 they decided to begin a new adventure in life, and with their two daughters, moved to La Crescenta from Gasport, New York.

Marion made many friends in the community when she worked as a District Postal Clerk in the Verdugo City Post Office from 1965-1985.

She and Kenneth were active members of the Pioneer Club of the Foothills and enjoyed taking many trips the club organized over the years. They also enjoyed taking many other happy trips together, including traveling through the Panama Canal for their 50th wedding anniversary.

In her later years, Marion suffered from Wet Macular Degeneration which eventually took away her ability to do all of her favorite things, but her Faith in God and devotion to her church sustained her throughout the remainder of her life.

A sweet, gentle, loving woman, wife and mother, on January 24, 2011, she was reunited with her beloved husband.

Marion is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Hakhamimi and Karen Marvin; son-in-law Masoud Hakhamimi, M.D.; grandson, Aryan Hakhamimi, wife Abby and great-grandson Adrian; grandson Kamron Hakhamimi, M.D. and wife Nan; sister-in-law, June Louis of Cheektowaga, New York; and 15 nieces and nephews.
