Gordon C. Mac Donald

Gordon Mac Donald died on Saturday, February 12, 2011 after a five week illness.

Gordon was born in Minot, North Dakota on August 6, 1923. He came to So. Calif. at an early age and grew up in South Gate. In 1943 he went into the Army Air Force and was stationed in England as a Glider Crew Chief getting ready for D. Day. After stationed in France and Germany, he returned in December, 1945.

He married his high school sweetheart, Bettyann (Gentry) on April 5, 1946. He attended U.S.C. and graduated in 1951. He taught in Burbank Unified Schools for 30 years.

After retirement he worked in the Lockheed Skunk Works for eight years. He also finished building his lifelong dream of a Thorp T-18 and flew six years.

He is survived by wife, Betty, three daughters, Nancy (Al) Stancil of Hoover, AL., Kathleen (George) Atkins of Temecula, and Darcy Mac Donald of Stanford, CT; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three nephews and two nieces.

A memorial service will be held at his church, First United Methodist, at 1 pm, Feb. 27, 2011. 134 N. Kenwood St. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, gifts to his church or your favorite charity would be appreciated
