Hazel E. Turner

April 23, 1910 – February 14, 2011

Long time Burbank resident Hazel E. Turner passed away February 14 at the age of 100. She was born April 23, 1910 in Cleveland, Ohio. Hazel attended nursing school at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland, where she graduated in 1934. She moved to southern California in 1938 and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. She was married in March 1939 and moved to Burbank in 1940 with her husband, Marion. They moved into the home on Doan Drive where she lived for the next 60 years. They had three children, Marilyn, John and Beverly. When the children were older she returned to nursing at Burbank Hospital in 1953. She worked there until her retirement in 1975. Marion was a machinist at Menasco during World War II and later at Newman Machine Works. He retired in 1968. Her daughter Beverly passed away in 1971 and husband Marion in 1988.

Hazel became at resident at Solheim Lutheran Home in Eagle Rock in 2000. She enjoyed her retirement there until she passed away peacefully at Solheim on Feb 14. She is survived by her children, John Turner of Canton, Georgia and daughter Marilyn Mac Crimmon of Vancouver Canada. She is mourned by her grandchildren, William Turner of Raleigh, North Carolina, James Turner of Burbank, Karyn Pavlic and Brian Mac Crimmon of Vancouver, Canada and Keith MacCrimmon of Houston, Texas. She had 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson Daniel Turner

She was interred at Valhalla Memorial Park on February 18. She is buried next to her husband, daughter and grandson. Pastor Charles Carlson of Solheim Lutheran Church officiated. Contributions can be made to Solheim Lutheran Home in Eagle Rock.
