Ton in ’10 raises funds for Healthy Kids

Glendale Adventist Medical Center and All About You! Wellness BootCamp launched a yearlong community program to fight obesity in January 2010 and have released its results. A total of 255 people registered in the program and cumulatively lost 1,422 pounds, according to a press release from the medical center.

Glendale Adventist Medical Center committed to donating $1 for each pound registered participants lost to the Glendale Healthy Kids program, which ensures that children have access to health care and health education. Additionally, program participants had the opportunity to pledge to donate money for every pound they personally lost to the Glendale Healthy Kids program. They pledged $1,234

As a result, the Ton in ’10 weight-loss challenge raised $2,656 for the Glendale Healthy Kids program.

“We are very proud of all the Ton in ’10 participants,” said Morre Dean, president and CEO of Glendale Adventist Medical Center. “They worked together to improve their health and raised funds for a worthy cause. This was also a great way to call attention to the growing problem of obesity and teach people how they can take steps to attain and maintain a healthy weight.”
