Frances Eleanor Smith Prosser

Frances Eleanor Smith Prosser, age 92, was 12-5-1918, in Roundup, Montana, to Florence Edna (Wilson) and Howard Tilton Smith, the youngest of four children. Died February 28, 2011 at her home in Poulsbo, WA, where she had resided since May 2005.

Married to John Warren (Jack) Prosser on January 30, 1941, in Glendale, CA, where they made their home, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before her husband’s death in May 1992.

Frances graduated from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, her family having moved from Montana to Los Angeles in the mid-1920s. She also attended Los Angeles City College before her marriage to John.

She was a homemaker, devoted to husband and family. She was involved in many activities that centered around her family: P.T.A., Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Job’s Daughters, as well as community service organizations: Burbank Junior Women’s Club, Red Cross blood banks, Salvation Army Meals-on-Wheels and P.E.O. Chapter DJ (Glendale, CA) and Chapter GI (Poulsbo,WA). She enjoyed working as the cook at Camp River Glen, the Glendale Girl Scout camp, and she and John served many years on the Camp Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her granddaughter, Michelle Louise Prosser. She is survived by her daughter Linda Prosser, Poulsbo, WA, and sons John Warren Prosser, Jr. (Kathy), Glendale, CA and Kenneth Howard Prosser (Shari), Ventura, CA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Melinda Prosser Lincicome (Greg), Katrina Prosser Ingram (Skyuler), Matthew John Prosser, Staci Frances Prosser, and Jacob Ryan Prosser, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering in celebration of Frances’ life will be held on April 10, 2011, in Glendale, CA. Please contact the family for more information.
