Margaret Emmily McGarragh

Born December 3, 1920, the second of nine children, Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on March 10th following a long illness. Born and raised in Prague, NE. “Marge” and her best friend, Margaret Canfield journeyed west and settled in Glendale in 1942.

While working as a waitress in Whiley’s Restaurant in Montrose, she caught the eye for one, George McGarragh, owner of the Blue Front Café across the street. The romance that ensued eventually led the young couple to a Las Vegas wedding and honeymoon.

Married for 61 years, George and Marge raised four children, Sandra King, Holly Dixon, and Greg McGarragah of La Crescenta and Tom McGarragh of Huston, TX. The two were also blessed with four grandchildren, Laura Anderberg and Lisa Fredricks of La Crescenta, Greg McGarrags of Fort Collins, CO and Justin McGarragh of Nova Scotia. Marge is also survived by her sister, Gertrude of Nebraska and preceded to heaven her beloved husband, George, in 2007.

A memorial service will be held at St. James church in La Crescenta at 9:30 AM on Saturday, April 2nd. We miss you mom but you will always be in our hearts and prayers.
