Douglas Michael Kraus, 87, passed away on March 23, 2011 in Irvine, California. Doug was born, raised and lived in La Cañada until he retired in Irvine with his wife Mary, to be closer

to his children and grandchildren. Doug was a third generation Californian whose forebears were prominent early settlers of La Cañada. He served in the United States Navy and then married the love of his life, Mary. They had two sons and two daughters. Doug was the last surviving child of six brothers and a sister. Doug enjoyed the last ten years of his retirement spending time with loved ones, fishing, hunting, bike riding and gardening, his most favorite passion. His

family and faith always came first. His golden heart and bright smile will forever be missed.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary, sons, Michael and Kevin Kraus, daughters,

Erin Mollner and Maureen Sayler, six wonderful grandchildren, Maura, Megan, Mark, Corey, Kelly, Courtney and one great-grandchild, Ema. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

A celebration of Doug’s life took place at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 5101 Alton Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92604 on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. A private Internment will be held later.
