Child rescued from hot car returned to mother

BURBANK — A 14-month girl left inside a 115-degree car Thursday while her father filled a prescription at Costco was released to her mother Thursday evening, police said.

The girl, who wasn’t hurt in the incident, was taken to the Burbank Police Department after being rescued from the car, Sgt. Robert Quesada said.

The girl’s father, Edik Magardomyan, 38, of Glendale, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of child endangerment when he exited the store.

He was released that same day on $100,000 bail.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney has not, as yet, filed charges against Magardomyan, officials said Friday.

A shopper spotted the girl sleeping and sweating inside the car and called police.

Police said the girl was inside the scorching car for at least 15 minutes.

The car’s doors were locked, but the windows were rolled down slightly, police said.

Officers tried reaching into to the car to unlock it, but they couldn’t. A store customer was able to slip her arm inside the cabin to unlock the door, police said.

Police removed the baby from the car and poured cold water on her head to keep her cool.

Magardomyan exited the store about 10 minutes later, police said.
