Final City Council election results expected Thursday

The Glendale City Clerk’s Office is expected to release the final results of last week’s tight City Council election on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Roughly 3,150 vote-by-mail and provisional ballots remained uncounted on Tuesday night, with the unofficial results leaving City Councilmen Dave Weaver and John Drayman at risk of being unseated.

Former Glendale City Councilman Rafi Manoukian was the top vote-getter as of Tuesday, 162 votes ahead of third-place Drayman. Just 27 votes separated Weaver and Drayman.

City officials have been working to reconcile the remaining ballots with Tuesday’s voter rosters to ensure that votes aren’t duplicated.

On Thursday, officials will count the remaining ballots at the Glendale Election Center, located in the Glendale Police Department, 131 N. Isabel St. Public viewing will be allowed for the preparations, processing and eventual count of the remaining ballots.

Preparations are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., with the count starting at 2 p.m.
