Robert Levis passed away peacefully on April 19, 2011, surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and sister in-law. He was born on July 26, 1934, in Chariton, Iowa to Harold and Louise. He was the younger of two children. He, his wife and children resided in La Canada for 28 years before moving to La Crescenta in 1998.

Dr Levis, Bob as he was known to friends, was a Radiologist at Good Samaritan Hospital for 33 years. He served as Chairman of Radiology for seven years, Chairman of the medical staff for three years, a member of the Board of Trustees and an Associate Clinical Professor at USC Medical School. Bob was also an avid sailor who took a year’s sabbatical and sailed the South Pacific with his family, as his crew, for a year in 1977.

He and his wife had six children: Curt Levis, Cristin Martin, Cathy Harwood, Karen Royer, Jennifer Levis and Michael Levis. He also had six grandchildren: Taylor, Katie, Jordan, Sami, Tony, and Michael. He is survived by his wife Erlene of 54 years along with his five oldest children and his six grandchildren. His youngest son, Michael, preceded him in death in 1997. Services will be held at Descanso Gardens in La Canada at the Rose Pavilion on Friday April, 29, 2011 at 5 pm.
