The Pehar family announces the passing of Francis Pehar who died Friday April 23, 2011. Fran was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and godmother.

Frances was born October 31, 1934 in Santa Monica, CA to Selma and Dan Ellich who migrated here from Croatia in the early 1900s.Her Croatian heritage including her involvement with the CFU Lodge677 and St. Anthony’s Croatian Church in Los Angeles, CA was a very important part of her life. Fran was also involved with the PTA in the Glendale School District for over 20years, after which she began her career with Glendale College and retired there after some 28 years of service.

She leaves behind her husband, Stephen, of 52 years, daughters Laurie (Borsh), Susan (McGowan) and son, John; sons-in-law, Mike McGowan and Mike Borsh; daughter-in-law, Christine; granddaughter Ally and grandsons, Michael, Stephen, Brendan, Andrew and Nicholas; two sisters, her brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and godchildren as well as many beloved cousins in Croatia and her many friends throughout the United States.

Frances gave of her heart and soul to others and the Lord has welcomed her home to rest. She will be dearly missed, but we know that she will be with us all in spirit forever.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 6th, 2011 at 11:00 am with a reception and celebration of her life immediately following at: St. Anthony’s Croatian Catholic Church 712 North Grand (corner of Alpine)
Los Angeles, Ca 90012.

Private Family Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Glendale
