A Glendale woman who was fatally shot and dumped on the Foothill (210) Freeway in La Crescenta on Friday was related to her alleged assailant, L.A. County Sheriff’s officials said Monday.

“There is some kind of family relationship,” said Lt. Mike Rosson, adding that investigators are trying to determine whether they might have been cousins, or possibly related by marriage.

Adrine Arzumanyan, 33, was shot at least once in the upper torso and then pushed from a car onto the 210 Freeway off-ramp at La Crescenta Avenue, officials said.

The alleged shooter, whose name has not been released, then headed south on the Glendale (2) Freeway where he was stopped near Mountain Street. He had suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.

He was expected to recover from his injuries, officials said.

“He has got some severe injuries, but they don’t appear to be life threatening at this time,” Rosson said, adding that more surgery would probably be required.

The alleged shooter has not been formally arrested, Rosson said. Sheriff’s officials are at the hospital to guard against any possible retaliation, he added.
