Marlys Lorraine Marsteller
October 31, 1949 – April 27, 2011

Beloved daughter of Robert and Lorraine Marsteller, sister to Loren and Duane, died peacefully at the hospital where she had been undergoing tests for ten days. She will always be remembered as a wonderful musician, a talented flutist, a successful teacher of choral music and for the founding and direction of the performances of her Broadway Summer Camp and The Foothill Summer Musical Theater. While in school she directed the children’s choir at the La Cañada Presbyterian Church. She taught private High School and College flute students and presented them in recital every year and for many summers she taught flute at the Wildwood Music Camp. For 35 years she taught choral music in the schools of La Cañada, San Juan Capistrano and San Marino. She won many awards and citations for her musicianship and volunteer service including the Arian Award at La Cañada High School, the Nesbit Award to attend the Interlochen National Music Camp in Michigan, the Harley Hamilton scholarship to the U.S.C. School of Music and Honors at the U.S.C. Honors Convocation, selection by the Rotary Club to represent Southern California in a Group Study Exchange program in Germany and many others. She will be missed by many.
